Welp, we’re now officially in month three of lockdown mode due to COVID-19. I’ve got to be honest, I hit a bit of a breaking point with this whole pandemic this week. Out of the long list of things that are no longer happening, what am I lamenting the most? Celebrating. I miss gathering around the table with friends and toasting to birthdays, accomplishments, and milestones. I think marking occasions and joining together around the common theme of joy is such an important part of the human condition. Of course, for me that always includes food.
My restaurant friends are hurting. Many have remained closed completely or are just offering takeout. So it may be a while before we can all grab a booth at our favorite local dining spot for a group dinner. For now, we’ve got to figure out new ways to gather. I have a feeling that many of us are more comfortable staying home at this time.
If you’re looking for an alternative to another round of takeout, might I suggest hiring a private chef? I know what you’re thinking, private chefs are for hoity toity snobby people. But if you think that, you’ve clearly never met my friend, Chef Oh.
Michael and I met while working corporate together. We’ve kept in touch throughout the years since we both left the company. Michael starting his own private chef and cooking class business several years ago, and he’s killing it! Michael can come to your home and prepare a meal for a special occasion. Or if you prefer to get hands-on, he can teach you a class on things like pasta making, Spanish tapas, or Asian cuisine.
Michael is a big time traveler. I cried inside along with him when his spring trip to Japan was cancelled due to the virus. Michael uses his expeditions as opportunities to learn more about cooking local foods. He has taken classes in Mexico, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Thailand, and more.
If you’re looking for a unique and delicious way to break up your everyday and celebrate something big or small, please call Michael, he’s amazing! Have an evening with him, and you’ll be so so full in heart and stomach. Check out Michael’s Instagram to keep up with his cooking antics and learn more about him!
