When the COVID-19 crisis hit the state of Georgia, I was in the midst of scheduling shoots with over 40 Roswell-area restaurants for an event known as Summer Sippin’. Summer Sippin’ has become an annual favorite of us Atlanta OTP dwellers. I was excited to see all the fun summer drinks that the participating restaurants had come up with. They compete to win the prize of Roswell’s best drink for the summer of 2020.
Well, you all know how this story goes. By Mid-March many of our favorite local eateries were completely or partially non-operational, and I like many of you was quarantined at home. It was devastating to see many of my local friends in the restaurant industry struggle to get a grip on this new way of operating. I missed being out in my community doing what I love.
I was sure that with everyone the restaurants have on their plate (no pun intended). Summer Sippin’ would be another unfortunate casualty of COVID-19. Yet, I’m so impressed with Roswell Inc. and the over 40 participating restaurants who pulled it together to make this event happen.
The event normally runs through June and July, but this year, we’re taking August and September by storm! You can go to summersippin.com and check out all the participating restaurants and view the special libation they created just for this event. Use the Summer Sippin’ app to rate your favorites, and at the end of September, a winner for best drink in Roswell will be crowned!
Of course, this year requires a little extra creativity for those who prefer to enjoy their drinks at home. So each restaurant is offering both an in-house and to-go option for their drink. If you opt to take your drink home, you’ll receive a kit with all the ingredients you need (except for the booze). As well as instructions on how to put it all together. What better way to impress members of your household than with your newfound mixology skills?
